The Family Birthplace at SSM St. Joseph Hospital of Kirkwood features private, specially-designed LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum) maternity suites that allow moms to experience childbirth in a setting that feels more like home than a hospital without moving from room to room. Pediatricians from SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center are available 24 hours a day.

Baby, Bed & Breakfast
The Baby, Bed & Breakfast program offers a gourmet breakfast and an extra night stay for a nominal fee. This provides our new moms with an opportunity to enjoy extra time to rest, ask questions of our nursing staff and receive additional education.

Hugs® and Kisses® Infant Protection System
St. Joseph Hospital of Kirkwood utilizes the Hugs and Kisses Infant Protection System – the first of its kind in use in the St. Louis area – to ensure the safety of our youngest patients. The system is designed to prevent infants from being removed without authorization, as well as automatically confirming that the right baby is with the right mother.
